Founded by Trevor Hunt in 2008
At The Whole 9 Tree Service, my priority is simple: providing the very best customer service in the industry. This business is my passion, and I’m dedicated to ensuring every client is completely satisfied with our work.
Born and raised right here in Virginia Beach, I started climbing trees in my early 20s to make a living, but I quickly fell in love with the trade. I turned that passion into a career dedicated to serving my neighbors. Because this community means everything to me, I’ve built a company that is 100% local, 100% of the time. From the crews in the field to our administrative staff, we are locally run and operated.
Low Overhead – High Standards
We were built to keep our prices affordable. Tree service is an expensive business to run, but we’ve mastered the art of keeping costs down. We don’t care about having the shiniest, newest trucks on the block—we care about having machines that work and a crew that shows up. Our older, well-maintained equipment allows us to offer competitive pricing without sacrificing power or safety
You’ll also never have to wonder who is climbing your trees. Trevor Hunt is our sole climber and owner, ensuring that every job meets his personal standards for quality. We don’t outsource, and we don’t cut corners.

How we started
We started out with a will and a very old dump truck. Tree climbing is an exhilarating trade to learn as a young man. But to run a profitable tree service, equipment is a must. 15 years later we have 3 dump trucks, 2 wood chippers, a bobcat loader and an industrial stump grinder.
Local Expertise
There is a vast amount of information to learn about tree service trade. Tree anatomy and physiology, tree identification, pruning techniques, maintenance requirements and much more.
While climbing and rigging methods remain fairly consistent, tree health evaluation is highly localized. Because of our unique environment bordering the Great Dismal Swamp, our local ecosystem presents specific challenges. The high humidity and diverse fungal populations mean that trees thriving elsewhere may struggle here. We specialize in identifying these local stressors to ensure your trees can remain resilient and healthy.
